Killer Whale

THE KILLER WHALE

Information: The Orcinus Orca or otherwise known as the "killer" whale is the largest member of the dolphin member. The killer whale has a long black bosy with white on the underside and a dorsil fin in the middle of his back. Male orcas average 23 feet and about 7-10 tons. The female orcas average 21 feet and weigh 4-6 tons. They can live anywhere from 30-50 years. orca whales are known to be all over the world but are mostly found in the Arctic and Antarctic oceans. They can be found in coastal waters and in oceans. In order to find food, orchas use sound waves to bounce off of things in ocean. They use high pitch sounds to stun prey. Orchas eat fish, squid, and birds. When young orchas are born they stay with their mothers up to 2 years. Orcha whales are threatened by chemicals and pollution in the water. They can get diseases and cause reproductive problems.

C-Image2Word2Image3

This is the original image in which I have the word augment. Augment means to make larger or great, increase in size. For this image I decided to keep the type going upward because it shows the getting higher. The letters also increase in font size because it shows them getting larger. I think this connects both pictures the number of humans increase from left to right, the knowledge increases as humans grow, and even the size of the human being gets larger as time goes by.

For this image I chose to put the word augment increase in size as a whole because in the right photo the number of people increases and it creates a crowd. I wanted to show it getting larger but with multiples of the word because there are many people in both pictures.

For this part of the project my second word is hoi polloi. It means the masses or the general populace. For this image I chose to make the word large and copied it multiple times. I did this because I want the viewer to get lost in the picture and realize there are a lot of duplicates of the word. I want it to represent the masses itself and to be bold to the viewer.

The second word I chose is hoi polloi. This fits this image because it means masses or general populace. In this image there is a small child which is represented by the white font because it is small and individual. On the right there is a picture of a group of children learning. When I look at this I think that eventually this child will join other children and become a crowd of people that make up the population.

The second word I chose is hoi polloi. This fits this image because it means masses or general populace. I chose to put the type large and stretched out to represent the enormity of a crowd or mass. In these masses there are individual people so I made more type within the bigger type to show there are individuals making up the crowd. It's also about the child being a small member of the population while the big lettering is an example of the crowd and its mass of people.

I think these photos have a lot of relationships. The baby relates to both of these because it is where we all start out as humans. eventually we get bigger by learning and growing just like the first photo. In the third photo there seems to be many people so the size grows but we as humans also grow into adults. Out learning capabilities also grow. We don't have much to do when we are a baby but we learn as we get older and then have our own opions and beliefs just like the third picture.

In this image I wanted to show that as the crowd gets bigger the word augment also does and overlaps because when a crowd is massive it can get overwhelming and hard to make out the individuals. A crowd also has to start with one and that is how the first picture relates .

I chose this one because my group seemed to think it was the most appealing. It seems to show augmentation because the baby grows and the kids learn as well. My group thought that it would be a good idea to make the type increase in size as you move up the page to represent the growth. They thought the typeface was a good typeface and the way it goes up represents the learning.

Making Meaning Project

When I saw these two images I thought of Ambrosial because both pictures connect with the word. The dog looks like he just ate something that was delicious or had a good taste to it. The cereal is an example of something that can be delicious and nutritious. Another meaning is heavenly which is why I put the word at the top of the composition.
I chose synthetic for these images because in American Chinese and Japanese food is not really what they make in China and Japan. It has a new meaning because it is artificial and not representing the real food. The bottles are also synthetic because they are made of plastic which is almost like saying that all bottles made of synthetic plastic and can easily be recycled.
I chose fidelity because there is a huge relationship between these two images. Dog is man's best friend and when I saw these two it reminded me of how a dog loves its master from day one. These two have a relationship that will never end. I placed the word in an upward motion to show that the relationship is happy and it connects the two.
When I saw these I thought of how messy the kid was. I think disheveled fits with these images because the boy is completely messy and it is almost opposite in the other photo. The bottles are all cleaned up and in bags with no disorder. I think I picked this word because at any moment the bags could become disheveled and be just like the boy.
This picture has a couple of meanings. When I think of babies I think grow. With these two images I connected them with augment because the baby could be growing or the teacher is augmenting what the children learn. It could also be that the child may someday grow into a child on the right and be taught just the same. I made the word rise to the right because it is showing that the baby will someday grow up to be in school and the maybe even be a teacher.

Dog

I think this image would be interesting if you put three other dogs next to it. I think it cause the viewer not just to think about this dog but all dogs in general. I think you might also think about the relationships between each dog.
I think cropping this image would not get the point across. I think the edges would be too close to the dog himself and it would create too much tension. You want to have some context as to where the dog is in the picture even if it's not clear.

Children

I think this picture is something that can be altered in many different ways. I think if this were juxtaposed next to a desolate trashed area of the same country it could really have an effect on people. It could impact people by showing that there could be some parts of the country have schools and are able to provide and some parts are not.
I think it could also be something from a book, maybe informational. There a could be a paragraph put next to it to give facts and information.

Messy Kid

I think if I were to juxtapose a picture of some type of cleaning project the message coming from the image would change from a messy kid to an image specifically about cleaning projects pertaining to a stay at home mom.
I could crop out the white in the background which is paper towel and the image wouldn't have to do with bounty anymore. I could use it for something else maybe a sign for teachers to put in there classroom. Maybe something that says something about children and learning in a kindergarten room.

Cereal

When I saw this image I thought of adding the words "Got breakfast?" These days people deem breakfast the most important meal of the day. If this were added the image would be about eating your breakfast and not just cereal.
I think if I were to juxtapose this next to a poptart or maybe a sugary cereal with all its components (sugar) the image would then be focusing on what is better to eat for breakfast and are you thinking about what is in your food.

Bottles

When I saw this image I immediately thought trash and if I put the word trash right in the middle of the picture. It wouln't just be bottles in bags you would think that the image may have something to do with picking up your trash and cleaning up.
If the image was juxtaposed with a few other images like factory pollution, maybe a picture of an outlet the whole series of images would now be about going green and recycling.

Sushi

One way in which I could alter this image would be to completely cut out the 33% satisfaction. If I were to do this then the viewer would have no idea as to what quality the sushi is and if people even go to the restaurant. It would just be a sign for sushi.
If I were to make the 33% bigger, such as taking up most of the page next to sushi, then one would conclude that this restaurant has a terrible rating and no one goes because most people aren't satisfied. It might not even be about the sushi place. It could be a whole new image when you just think about the 33 %. It might be in a series where some things are not satisfying.

Baby

If I cropped the bottom off where the tag and fatherhood logo is then it would change the whole meaning of the picture. It would no longer be associated with the organization and it would be an ordinary baby that is sleeping.
Likewise if I were to change the size of the typography on the tag the image would not have the same meaning. It would no longer draw the viewer in. As soon as I looked at this image I saw the tag and the logo and concluded that they were probably using the tag as a message. So I started reading it and it is a message to dads. If the type were increased the message would not be as subtle and would not fit with entire message they are trying to get accross.
